Modular Filing Systems

Even as we move forward through this digital age, it is still difficult to keep track of all the papers that a business or home office will amass. Your ever-expanding needs may be better met by a modular filing system than with traditional filing cabinets. Modular units are made so that they can be added easily as you have more to file.

Modular filing systems come in all sizes. For a home office, you should look into desk top units. These are fairly simple, low shelves that hold papers horizontally. Most starting units will come with four, six, or eight shelves, but this can be added to with additional units of either single or multiple shelves. Most of these systems are made strong enough to hold your phone or fax on top to cut down on desk surface space.

The most convenient of these units simply snap together with no need for tools of any kind.

Aside from the space-saving these units provide, they also keep documents and paperwork in close proximity to you so you don't have to continually reach or walk away from your desk to access your papers.

There are modular filing systems made for specific businesses, too. Doctors and dentists will often have larger modular systems to keep patients records. These are made large enough to hold x-rays, as well as the usual paperwork.

These systems also work well for any business that deals with an abundance of legal documents, which often become cramped and disorganized in traditional filing cabinets.

Medical practices also may have specially made modular systems to hold micro-slides (or specimen slides) and 35 millimeter slides. These drawer units offer convenience and safety for important information. The individual drawers are normally color coded for easy identification and they snap together easily and hold strong.
